The following statement is attributed to Sheila Katz, CEO of National Council of Jewish Women:
“An agreement to secure the release of the hostages, increase humanitarian aid, and lead to an end of the war is a welcome and necessary development after 15 months of devastation. Our hearts ache for the women, children, and families who have borne the unimaginable weight of this conflict. This agreement offers a fragile but critical glimmer of hope amid the darkness.
Yet, we know this news does not bring about instant relief. As families wait in agony to find out if their loved ones will be released or are even still alive, we urge all parties involved to remain steadfast in moving every phase of this agreement forward without delay. Every single person held hostage must come home.
While we are grateful, our work is not done. We all must continue to build toward a future where all women, children, and families are protected, and where peace is not just a fleeting moment but a lasting reality. May all the hostages come home, and may we all soon know peace.”
