National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) proudly supports the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to combating Islamophobia and anti-Arab hate. Muslim and Arab American communities are experiencing skyrocketing levels of hate and harassment. The first-ever US National Strategy to Counter Islamophobia and Anti-Arab Hate is a pivotal step in building safer communities and a safer country for Muslim and Arab Americans, and all of our communities.
As a Jewish organization, we know what it feels like to be seen and heard through this administration’s inclusive approach to combating hate and we welcomed the administration’s whole-of-government approach to combating antisemitism. We are grateful to the administration for now shedding light on the hate Muslim and Arab American communities are facing every day.
The work of fighting hate and discrimination should not fall upon impacted communities. Just as the Jewish community is not responsible for fighting antisemitism ourselves, the Muslim and Arab American communities should not be responsible for fighting hate alone. We are stronger as a nation when we are able to honor, respect, and support one another in all aspects of who we are, and we look forward to continuing our work united together with our partners to build a more inclusive, compassionate, and just society.
