On Wednesday, December 4, National Council of Jewish Women is proud to join the ACLU, Lambda Legal, and other civil rights and faith partners in front of the US Supreme Court for the Freedom to Be Ourselves Rally.
Inside the Court, the justices will hear from families challenging a Tennessee ban on health care for transgender youth, a case that could decide whether trans people have the same rights under the US Constitution as everyone else. The ultimate decision in this case could have far-reaching implications for trans youth — and potentially all trans people — and on whether states can restrict other kinds of health care, such as birth control and IVF. Learn more about the case, United States v. Skrmetti, on NCJW’s website.
We invite you to join us for the rally during oral arguments at the United Methodist Building (9:30am ET, 100 Maryland Ave NE, Washington, DC 20002). Meet us for NCJW signs and swag before we band together with hundreds of other advocates in solidarity with trans youth and their families against cruel and discriminatory health care bans and in support of our shared freedoms.
The Torah teaches us that we are all created bt’zelem elohim, in the Divine image. Together we can make this vision a reality.
