TIME IS RUNNING OUT: Urge President Biden to Put the Equal Rights Amendment into the Constitution
Today, President Biden recognized the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) as the 28th Amendment to the Constitution, but he stopped short of enshrining a long-overdue promise of equality into the foundation of our nation. By codifying protections against sex discrimination, the ERA ensures that no one — women, girls, LGBTQ+ individuals, or anyone — will be denied rights or opportunities because of their gender. This amendment is a critical safeguard against injustices like gender-based violence, bans on birth control, and unequal pay for women.
We must demand that President Biden go further and instruct the National Archivist to publish and certify the ERA before he leaves office.
