The Family and Medical Insurance Leave (FAMILY) Act (HR 3481/S 1714), introduced by Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), would guarantee a national paid family and medical leave program for virtually all working people across the country. The FAMILY Act would provide twelve weeks of job-protected paid time off for employees of any company to take care of their children, spouses, parents, — and themselves. This program would provide a critical safety net for the 83 percent of workers who do not have access to paid family leave through their employer.
