Support humanitarian aid in the Congressional year-end funding package for Palestinian civilians in Gaza

Judaism places profound importance on caring for the vulnerable, especially children and the elderly. The Torah repeatedly commands us to protect those most in need, reminding us of our obligation to act with compassion and justice. As Jews, we are reminded of the moral imperative to stand for the dignity and safety of all people.

The humanitarian situation in Gaza is catastrophic. The health care system teeters on the brink of collapse, with doctors treating hundreds of patients daily in harrowing conditions — lacking electricity, anesthesia, and clean water. Children and the elderly face starvation with minimal access to food, while millions grapple with severe food insecurity. The spread of communicable diseases further exacerbates this crisis.

There are increased barriers to delivering relief to the Palestinian women, children, and families desperately in need. Border access remains restricted, aid trucks are being looted by armed gangs and Hamas terrorists, and winter is approaching — compounding the challenges of providing food, hygiene items, and other essential supplies to civilians.

While we urge Israel to do everything possible to ensure humanitarian aid is delivered to the nearly two million displaced and hungry people, Congress must also act. Including much needed humanitarian aid in any year-end funding package is essential. The time is now: imminent famine looms in Gaza and there is no time to waste.
