Position Summary

NCJW seeks a dynamic and experienced Associate Director of Field Engagement to strengthen and expand our grassroots impact across local and state communities nationwide. The ideal candidate will be passionate about justice, equity, community organizing, and empowering changemakers to make a difference in their communities. They will play a crucial role in supporting and building the capacity of NCJW’s field leaders (staff and volunteer), fostering strategic alignment between the field and the national office, and providing strategic leadership to enhance departmental effectiveness.

Reporting to the Director of Engagement & Leadership, the Associate Director will play a key role in steering departmental goals, managing the team, and forging strategies to advance departmental and organizational objectives.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Field Support & Capacity Building
    • Enhance efforts to engage changemakers in local and state communities by sharing and scaling best practices developed by the field.
    • Collaborate with the Director of Engagement and Leadership and Chief Field Engagement Officer to develop NCJW’s pedagogy for engagement.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with grassroots leaders to foster collaboration and support.
    • Manage compliance and oversee the collection of vital data across the nationwide network.
    • Facilitate strategic alignment between the field and the national office.
    • Work closely with NCJW departments to streamline processes relating to field engagement and enhance support and communication.
  • Strategic Leadership
    • Act as a thought partner alongside the Director in developing field communications strategies.
    • Offer creative solutions to challenges and drive process improvements to enhance departmental effectiveness.
    • Foster a cohesive and productive environment among the team and across the NCJW movement.

Key Qualifications 

  • At least 7 years of nonprofit experience including staff management, and working in chapter/affiliate relations, grassroots organizing, or a related field.
  • A deep appreciation for the history and lived practices within Jewish tradition, culture, identities, community, and the issues and diverse communities for which NCJW advocates
  • Experience using CRM systems, including using data to evaluate, track and measure engagement.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Google Suite; familiarity with EveryAction or similar CRM software preferred.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a remote team environment.
  • Passion for social justice and advancing the mission of NCJW.
  • Willingness to travel

Salary and Benefits

Salary range: $90,000 – $115,000 — commensurate with experience

Paid Federal and Jewish Holidays.
