Update from the President: Moving Forward
It’s hard to believe that three months have passed since I stood at the podium in Dallas, Texas, and spoke to you for the first time as president of the National Council of Jewish Women. It is still a thrill and an honor to represent such a powerful group of passionate and progressive Jewish women and to be entrusted to lead NCJW for the triennium. As I said that evening in March, I strongly believe NCJW is poised and positioned to take the leap of action required to be THE organization that is the most meaningful, effective and relevant place for Jewish women, inspired by Jewish values, to pursue social justice.
During the past months, I, along with the newly elected officers and board directors, have been working with CEO Nancy Kaufman and key senior staff members to map a plan for building NCJW’s collective strength and growing our reach. We met in Hamilton Park, NJ, in mid-May for a board retreat and meeting. There we looked at what NCJW has already accomplished, where we stand today, and where we want and need to go. We pinpointed the following three strategic priorities that will guide our board and NCJW’s journey for the next three years.
- Supporting NCJW’s valuable and effective grassroots and strengthening the Section/NCJW, Inc. connection
- Building our membership, building our power and building our brand
- Raising the funds necessary to sustain NCJW into the future
Now, our work really begins. As we develop and implement plans and strategies that will bring substance to these priorities, we will continue to keep you, our NCJW section leaders, informed on where we are going and involved in the process of getting there.
You are our partners and allies in this important work. This new enewsletter is one of the first resources we are employing to strengthen the connection and communication between NCJW sections and NCJW, Inc. I am excited for the launch of Strength to Strength, and I am excited to forge as we work together to build NCJW’s capacities and strength for the future.
